Pulsed laser 213nm LSX

Contact :

The laboratory houses two CETAC/Teledyne ablation lasers LSX-213. These are two ND/YAG pulsed lasers with a 213 nm wavelength. The size of the laser spot is adjustable from 4 to 200 µm with a square of circular shape allowing in situ dating of multiple points on rock sections (typically a disc 1 cm across  ´ 1 mm to 250 µm thick) or isolated crystals lying on the bottom of the sample chamber in a dedicated sample support mechanically securing the samples (grains) from moving during ablation. Both units allow coaxial viewing/targeting with a customized, stand-alone, Labview driver controlling the beam power, size aperture, frequency operation and X-Y-Z positioning (or rastering) of the ablation based on user-defined settings.
