Pesticides (insecticides, herbicides…) used in agriculture accumulate in soils and continue to be found in soils several years after their withdrawal (e.g.: atrazine, ….). These molecules can remain in the soil, diffuse to the grondwater and surface water and contaminate these drinking water sources. The pesticides can also be (bio)degraded or only partially (bio)degraded and lead to the production/accumulation of metabolites that also accumulate or migrate to the aquifer. The objective of the EPURSOL project is to develop a new ecological engineering technology (bioaugmentation) for the bioremediation of agricultural soils polluted by pesticides/metabolites by an approach based on the use of supports colonized by microbial communities previously selected.
