MATLAB in Action: Enhancing Geoscience Workflows at ISTO - Orleans University

Abstract

MATLAB is widely used by thousands of geo-scientists and engineers in academia and industry working on many different applications, including geospatial data analysis and visualization, signal and image processing, machine/deep learning, among others. During this seminar, Kostas Leptokaropoulos will show how to use MATLAB’s versatile platform to perform data and geo-data pre-processing, advanced analysis and visualization, oriented towards Geoscience disciplines. The presentation will include demonstration of examples and applications that will cover some of the following topics:

  • Leveraging MATLAB’s existing Apps and Tasks to minimize manual coding

  • Utilizing MATLAB Apps for image processing

  • Integrating MATLAB with other programming languages (e.g., Python) and environments (e.g., Jupyter, Visual Studio Code)

  • Implementing machine learning techniques with MATLAB

  • Sharing and reuse codes, workflows and results with MATLAB
